Completion requirements:
The certificate comprises one core mandatory unit (IF1) and two optional units (see list below).

Each unit comprises detailed training, followed by a multiple-choice exam.

- IF1 – Insurance fundamental (mandatory)
This module gives the learner an overview of insurance from risk to regulation. It is the building block of the Certificate in Insurance (Cert CII) that all other modules build on. The exam is 100 multiple choice questions with 2 hours to complete – 15 credits. - IF2 – General insurance business
This module covers basic insurance products and practices, including underwriting and policy wording. It is ideal for anyone working within general insurance, selling or administering multiple classes of insurance. The exam is 100 multiple choice questions with 2 hours to complete – 15 credits. - IF3 – Insurance underwriting
This module covers the role of underwriting, including identification, assessment and acceptance of risk. It is ideal for anyone aspiring to work in an underwriting team. The exam is 75 multiple choice questions with 2 hours to complete – 15 credits. - IF4 – Claims handling processes
This module covers the claims handling process, including notification, assessment and settlement. It is perfect for anyone working in a claims environment. The exam is 75 multiple choice questions with 2 hours to complete – 15 credits. - IF5 – Motor insurance products
This module covers the practices and procedures connected with private motor, motorcycle and commercial motor insurance. It is ideal for anyone who deals with motor insurance. The exam is 75 questions consisting of 50 multiple choice questions and 5 case studies of 5 questions each with 2 hours to complete – 15 credits. - IF6 – Home insurance products
This module covers the practices and procedures connected with home insurance. It is ideal for anyone who deals with home insurance. The exam is 75 questions consisting of 50 multiple choice questions and 5 case studies of 5 questions each with 2 hours to complete – 15 credits. - IF7 – Health insurance products
This module covers fundamental principles and practices of healthcare insurance. It is ideal for anyone who deals with health insurance. The exam is 100 multiple choice questions with 2 hours to complete – 15 credits. - IF8 – Packaged commercial products
This module covers the design and development of packaged commercial policies, including the design and operation of such insurance. It is ideal for anyone who works within commercial insurance. The exam is 75 multiple choice questions with 2 hours to complete – 15 credits. - IF9 – Customer service in insurance
This module gives knowledge and understanding of customer service in an insurance context. It is ideal for anyone working in a customer-facing and people management role. The exam is 50 multiple choice questions based on 10 case studies with 90 minutes to complete – 15 credits. - IF10 – Insurance broking fundamentals
This module provides knowledge and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of insurance broking organisations. The exam is 65 multiple choice questions and 2 case studies of 5 multiple choice questions – 15 credits.
